Tourism Awards 2013

We are excited to announce that we will be entering in the Tourism Awards this year!

We have not entered into the QLD awards since 2009, which is the year we took out the Gold for Best Caravan & Tourist Park, therefore we are looking forward to showcasing all the changes and improvements that have taken place around the Village.

With a healthy combination of innovation, outstanding customer service, fantastic business planning, green initiatives and community presence, we believe we’re excellent contenders for the 2013 award.

We would like to thank all of our guests for their continued support and for making this venture possible.

Awards submissions are due in August so stay tuned for further news and developments.

Pool Toilets & Luxury Cabanas soon to arrive!

Here at BHV we love receiving feedback from guests! Why? Because you, our guests, know best what would make your holiday in our Village even more enjoyable and comfortable. Therefore, we always listen carefully to what is written on our guest feedback forms and on review sites such as TripAdvisor and Google Places, and if reasonable, add your suggestions to our ‘to-do’ list.

Our latest project is again a direct result of guest feedback and we are thrilled to announce that by end April 2013 we will be able to open our brand new Pool Toilet, Rinse Shower and luxury Cabanas to our valued guests!

We are very excited just thinking about the joy this will bring to our guests and we cannot wait for the opening day! As the QLD sun can sometimes get dangerously hot, we are also happy to be able to provide a sun-safe lounge option for those enjoying the water on a summer’s day.

So when you’re staying with us next, please ensure you fill out our guest feedback form as the more suggestions we receive, the better we can optimise our services and facilities to suit your needs!

Check out our Facebook page for all the complete photo collage of the construction.

BHV Staff invited to Cavalia Media Preview

As a thank you for looking after their cast and crew so well at our Village, the BHV team were invited to attend the Media Preview of the amazing Cavalia show in Brisbane.

The reduced, 60 minute spectacle featured the main highlights of the full show which is a 2 hour sensation of the senses as skilful acrobats, dancers and riders demonstrate the toughest tricks on and off horseback while guided by a live orchestra and vocals as the atmosphere is intensified by faint smells of sand and horse as well as live rain (!) to create the illusion of being in a mystical wonderland.

We had a great time and when asked for their opinion of the show our staff simply said: ‘Funny, beautiful, acrobatic, full of action - in one word SPECTACULAR!’

The Cavalia Show is travelling to Sydney and Melbourne next so make sure you don't miss the show when it's in your city!

A warm Welcome to our Special Guests!

From February through to April 2013 we have some special guests staying at the Village: the cast of international phenomenon ‘Cavalia’.

Currently touring the world, the Cavalia show will be staged at DFO Eagle Farm in March, the first ever show in Australia, ready to ‘wow’ Brisbane audiences with its spectacular mix of equestrian, performing arts & special effects.

Conceived by Normand Latourelle and often labelled an equestrian ballet, Cavalia is a spectacular and moving tribute to the relationship between men and horses throughout history, a dream of freedom, cooperation and harmony. In a fairy tale setting filled with poetry and emotion, the show innovatively integrates acrobatics, dance, aerial stunts, live music and equestrian arts. Under the White Big Top, a 50-metre stage permits the horses to express themselves in all their splendour, nobility and strength, often completely free.

After Brisbane, the show will travel to Sydney for shows in May and Melbourne in August.

For more information or tickets, please visit the Cavalia website www.cavalia.net

Gold Gumnut Award Winners!

On the 20th November 2012, BHV was officially awarded the prestigious Gold Gumnut Award, making it the first and only Holiday Park outside of NSW to achieve this.

Theo Whitmont, President of Caravan and Camping Industry Association (CCIA) of NSW said, "The Gumnut Awards, the CCIA’s eco rating program, is an important initiative that recognises and supports commitment to responsible tourism practices. To achieve a Gold Gumnut Award, Brisbane Holiday Village progressed through Bronze and Silver Gumnut Awards and completed formal training to implement a comprehensive Environmental Management Plan."

Ken and Geoff Illich (CEO and General Manager) were honoured to receive the award, with Ken saying “It is important to both Geoff and I that we offer an eco- friendly environment to all of our visitors. Having a Gold Gumnut Award means that we are making every effort to preserve our park and it’s surrounds for future generations. The Gumnut Awards have assisted us in reducing our water and electricity costs and have been beneficial when dealing with the council as it is such a highly credited and well recognised program. The Gumnut Awards are a practical set of guidelines which we have adopted and will continue to build upon as our park goes from strength to strength”.

In order to gain Gold, BHV must have had significant progress and monitored outcomes from an Environmental Management Plan, as well as the development of a further 30 criteria to improve practices associated with preserving the environment.

We are very proud of our achievements, and look forward to maintaining an eco-friendly Village.

$400,000 Tourism Initiative launched at BHV!

On Wednesday 9 February, Brisbane Holiday Village welcomed Tourism Minister Peter Lawlor and the CEO of Caravanning Queensland, Ron Chapman, to our very own Sunset Lagoon Cafe for the official launch of Caravanning QLD's $400,000 tourism initiative. Joined by news crews from all major TV Networks, the initiative is an effort to bring back tourism to Queensland after the recent natural disasters have made headlines all over the world and have changed people's perception of the Sunshine State's condition.

Mr Chapman said the aim of this campaign is to dispel the idea that 'Queensland is closed for business'. "Reports we're getting is that there are massive numbers of people cancelling their bookings and people who have holidayed in QLD for years are not rebooking for next year". Like Brisbane Holiday Village, hundreds of tourism operators across the state have been experiencing large numbers of cancellations since the beginning of the year and are keen to get the message out there that 'Queensland is OPEN FOR BUSINESS'.

In an effort to stimulate road travellers to return to QLD, Caravanning QLD, in partnership with Jayco Caravans, is giving away a Brand New Caravan worth $50,000 to one lucky tourist who stays at an associated Caravanning QLD member park between 1 March 2011 and 31 January 2012. So plan that trip to QLD and fill out an entry form at a member park to go in to draw! The more parks you stay in, the more chances you'll have to WIN!

 Tourism Minister Peter Lawlor

Brisbane Holiday Village achieves the first AAA Tourism 5-Star cabin accommodation Rating in Queensland!

AAA Tourism undertook its annual Star Rating inspection of Brisbane Holiday Village recently (9 April 2010) and awarded the Village a 5-Star rating for its new Vogue Cabins, under the Australian Tourist/Caravan Park STAR Rating Scheme.

With this recognition, Brisbane Holiday Village is now one of only two Tourist/Holiday Parks in Australia to have achieved the highest rating for cabin accommodation.

The Village’s additional three holiday cabin styles, branded the Cosmo Cabin, Alfresco Cabin and Metro Cabin, along with the two-bedroom Semi Permanent Cabins also rated high in the Scheme. The Cosmo Cabin scored an impressive 4.5 Star, where the Alfresco, Metro and Semi Permanent Cabins all scored a 4 Star rating.

An overall 4.5 Star rating was awarded to the property, confirming Brisbane Holiday Village’s well-appointed accommodation throughout and its exceptional standard of facilities and guest services.

Ken Illich, Development Manager of Brisbane Holiday Village, said, “Year in and year out we work hard and smart to keep ahead of our competitors and with this recognition we are proving to be doing just that. The accommodation and facilities we have on offer at Brisbane Holiday Village are more of what you would expect from a resort than a tourist park.”

In addition to the accommodation and property ratings, Brisbane Holiday Village received an Eco-Friendly Star, rewarding its commitment and care for the environment. Brisbane Holiday Village adopts state-of-the-art water and energy saving systems and is proud to be considered an Eco-Friendly Australian caravan park.

Brisbane Holiday Village wins a 2009/10 Queensland Tourism Award

Brisbane Holiday Village is the proud winner of the 2009/10 Queensland Tourism Award for best Caravan Park in the "Tourist and Caravan Parks" Category. The Management of Brisbane Holiday Village was presented the prestigeous award at the Awards ceremony held on Friday 13 November 2009. Despite it being "black Friday", Brisbane Holiday Village scooped gold!

Ken Illich, Development Manager of Brisbane Holiday Village, said, "We are so excited about our win in the 2009/10 Queensland Tourism Awards. It is indicative of the great support we have from our valued customers and staff, and the many improvements we have carried out recently."

“We have been working hard and smart to keep ahead of our competitors. This year we designed and installed some luxury cabins [called Vogue Cabins, which will soon be operational], with the appointments you would expect in an upmarket apartment. We have also been working on some new facilities, upgrades to existing accommodation and facilities and adopting state-of-the-art water and energy saving systems. These are just some of the improvements we have undertaken recently.”

Ken said, “The caravan park industry is evolving and our aim is to be ahead of the game. Guests are expecting more upmarket accommodation, extensive facilities and environmentally friendly business practices, and we are providing just that.”

“There seems to be a shift towards cabin accommodation throughout Australia, perhaps because caravan parks offer such extensive facilities and good value for money. Plus, there’s room for the kids to run around and the guests can save money by preparing their own meals in the self-contained holiday cabins. Caravanning is also increasingly popular,” Ken said.
